Digital Product Passport for upscaling a circular business model for

Bio-basedConstruction Materials

DIGI4BioMat

Digi4BioMat proposes a groundbreaking circular approach for the construction industry. Specifically, the project aim to: i)

develop innovative bio-based building blocks from agro-wastes (olive stone and almond shells); ii) design a new Circular Business Model (CBM), and iii) implement a Digital Product Passport for tracking lifecycle data.  Key challenges include: new bio-based material development, mechanical performance testing, life cycle data digitization, and innovative CBM validation. The project aims for sustainable, certified products, boosting efficiency and attracting eco-conscious clients.

What Levery does in Digi4BioMat

- Design Digi4BioMat Circular Business Model

Activities involved analyzing material flows, supply chains, and waste streams to identify circularity opportunities. Levery conducted stakeholder workshops to map value chains and define circular strategies. Results included a detailed business model outlining the upcycling of local agro-waste into bio-based building blocks. We established a framework for material recovery and reuse, minimizing landfill waste.

- Develop Digital Product Passport

Activities focused on creating a DPP platform to centralize product lifecycle data. We designed data schemas and APIs for seamless information exchange. We investigated IoT sensors for real-time monitoring of manufacturing processes and supply chain data. The platform provides a user-friendly interface for stakeholders to access sustainability attributes, supporting informed decision-making and compliance with EU regulations.

- Disseminate results and good practice

Activities involved creating communication materials, including reports, presentations, and website content. We published scientific papers and technical reports to disseminate knowledge about new bio-based materisl and circular approach. The project contributed to the development of industry standards and best practices for sustainable construction.
